Why are celebrities called heroes and everyday people aren’t?

What’s up with that? For example Leonardo DiCaprio is called a hero because he gave a speech about Earth, yet there’s people who actually do heroic things everyday like police and they’re called pigs and bashed all the time. I’m so sick of it. Glad I don’t watch the Oscars.
