I've taken 85 credits in the last 8 months, and I'm averaging 97%. I've gotten 100% on my last three exams, so I know a thing or two about acing tests. Here's 8 pro tips for crushing it on the exam front.

1. **Always read the syllabus** The syllabus is the road map for the course. Knowing what to expect for the rest of the semester will help you stay on top of things.
2. **Always read the rubric** The rubric is the road map for the specific exam or assignment. Knowing what the assessor is looking for in your work will help guide you in how to write your answers properly.
3. **Don't watch video lectures** Video lectures are a waste of time. If you want to get through an online class quickly, skip the video lectures and go straight to the quizzes. You can always go back to the video lectures after the fact if you're having trouble with a specific question.
4. **Always take online quizzes open book** If you're allowed to take quizzes open book, always do so. You can always use the time you have to look up answers to review the textbook.
5. **Make flashcards** For subjects that require a lot of memorization, make flashcards. Flashcards help you memorize important terms and concepts, and can help you cram for a test at the last minute.
6. **Use active learning** By active learning I mean engaging with the subject matter in a hands on way. Write out your flashcards by hand, make homemade book summaries, and properly read through all the power points. The key is to engage with the material instead of just passively reading or watching it.
7. **Make a "study guide"** Instead of reviewing 12 weeks worth of power points and 300 pages worth of textbook reading, write a one or two page synopsis of the high points. This can help you review for the exam as quickly as possible, and gives you something concise to turn to when you're trying to cram.
8. **Cram for exams** I know culture has you believing that cramming is bad, but I've had nothing but success cramming for exams. A good cram session can help you memorize the most important details right before the exam.

These are my 8 pro tips for doing well on exams. Remember, the most important thing isn't to learn the material, it's to get good grades.

Edit - I'm not suggesting that you skip video lectures and go into the exam blind. I'm saying that if you have the option to skip the video, and go straight to the exam, you should do so. You can always go back and watch the video if you're having trouble with the test.

Edit - the reason why I don't watch video lectures is that it's a waste of time. Video lectures are almost always a professor simply reading the power points out loud. You can get the same information by just reading the power points yourself.

Edit - yes I try to cheat sometimes, and I don't condone cheating. But I do it anyway.
