My sister is so fucking lazy and uses her kids as an excuse

My sister is 28, has 2 kids, and is married. I’m 32 and we live in the same neighborhood and so I see her a lot. <br><br>She and her family live in a 5 bedroom house that her husband bought before he met her. It’s fully furnished and is generally in great condition. They also have a small 2 bedroom ranch house on the lake. It’s fully furnished too with pretty much everything they need to live there 6 of the 12 months of the year. <br><br>She’s a shut in pretty much. Doesn’t want to clean her own house, will go to someone else’s house but doesn’t like having company, doesn’t like to help with anything, doesn’t like to go outside, doesn’t like to talk to people, doesn’t like to clean her kids, cook for her kids, take her kids outside to play or do anything with them, etc. <br><br>She will not clean her own house, her husband hired a maid to come every week but she says that the maid doesn’t clean the way that she wants. For example, her husband will peel fruit and put it in a little bowl to make fruit salad and put it in the fridge. She’ll leave that bowl in the fridge for months. She will leave dirty dishes and trash out for weeks at a time. She has a dishwasher and a disposal, no excuses. She’ll even go to other people’s houses and talk shit about how dirty it is and how she wouldn’t live like that. Even though she lives like that. <br><br>She has only worked a handful of hours in her life. She got a degree but never had a job. She’s gotten multiple jobs as a teacher that she chose not to take. She is an elementary school teacher. There is a demand for those where we live. She’s had several opportunities to take high paying jobs in good school districts and she turns them all down because the commute would be too hard and the hours are too long. She would have to work at the school from 7am-2pm minimum. The school is a 10-15 minute drive. <br><br>Even though she doesn’t work, the kids don’t even have clean clothes or clean food. They don’t go to school clean. <br><br>She won’t cook so she will order take out from fast food places for the kids a lot. <br><br>I’m honestly appalled and my parents are very disappointed in her. My parents are hardcore Christians who have a hardcore work ethic. They work all the time and that work ethic was drilled into us. <br><br>My parents are mad because they worked their asses off to send her to medical school. She didn’t go, just took the money and ran. She went to medical school for a year and then dropped out and got a degree in teaching. They’re mad about this because they basically gave her $100k to just spend on useless shit. She has only had a few jobs her whole life and has never spent a day working a real job in her life. She works 1-2 days a month maximum. <br><br>I’m mad because she’s one of the most privileged people I’ve ever met in my life and she uses her kids as an excuse to do fucking nothing and be lazy. She won’t help her kids with their homework because it’s too hard and she doesn’t want to help them because it’s too much for her. They won’t eat the food she makes so she’ll just let them eat Doritos and Cheetos and candy and other junk food because they like it more. She won’t go help the kids at school because she’s too anxious or too lazy. She doesn’t want them to do sports or extracurriculars because the practices are too far away and it’s too hard on her. She won’t take them to the library or to the park or anywhere. She just sets them on their phones and leaves them in the basement all day. She’s a terrible mother and a terrible person. <br><br>Her husband is just as bad tbh. I don’t know how he works from home and works all day while she does nothing with 2 kids. I guess he’s in a room in the basement and closes the door. There’s no reason for her not to spend time with her kids or take them to school or whatever. She just chooses to be lazy. <br><br>My husband and I are very worried about the future of these kids tbh.
