I'm sick of this narrative that the 5 day 40 hr work week is unreasonable

It seems like it's becoming more and more normalized to tell stories of 100 hr weeks as the expectation, like WE SHOULD ACCEPT 100 hr weeks. We shouldn't. We should be fighting for better work life balance and more free time, not romanticizing being a slave to your job. I don't care if you make 300k a year, if you have to work 80 hrs a week you don't have any time to enjoy your money. This is a problem with our capitalistic system and corporate greed and it's getting worse.

Edit: To everybody who works a million hours a week to save lives: thank you so much for your hard work and dedication <3

Edit 2:
To clarify what I mean with the narrative of acceptance: when you tell these stories, your audience is supposed to be amazed at how hard you work. Your audience should have the attitude of "wow I could never do that I'm not disciplined enough."

Instead of the attitude of "That's fucking crazy and completely unreasonable, you should quit."
