Teacher here - the “lost” money found in the desk drawer is a myth

I’ve been a teacher for over 20 years, and I still do not know a single teacher who found “lost” money in a desk drawer. Many of us have found lunch money or spare change on the playground but not in the desk drawers in our classrooms. <br><br>We know how it works - your child will ask you for lunch money and claim they lost it. Then they will pocket the replacement money you give them and use it for something else. You will then become frustrated by the school district or teachers for not “watching” your child’s lunch money. <br><br>It is not our job to monitor lunch money or spare change. If your child loses their money and comes to you crying about losing lunch money, asking for more, then that is on you as a parent.
