How does the internet work?

Let’s pretend we’re talking about sending letters in the mail. When you send a letter, you give it to someone else. That person gives it to someone else, and eventually that person delivers it to the person it was addressed to. Now imagine the person sending the letter is you, the person giving it to different people is your internet service provider, and the recipient is the website you want to visit. The destination website is the one receiving the letter.
