How does a gun store “check” com for a used firearm?

Buying a used 9mm this week. Both have good sellers and in good condition, one just comes with a full box of 115gr. The gas station gun store wants me to put a “check in fee” if it doesn’t come in over a three day period. However, I’m willing to pay the extra 150 bucks for the box of ammo. Does the gun store really not know whether it’s on com? Do they really need my money to look it up?<br><br>Edit. I didn’t think of this. If he’s selling it as a private seller it’s not on computer.
