I am sick to death of people saying shit like “the beautiful thing about being an adult is that no one tells you what to do”. I think this is one of the most fucked up things you can say to a kid.

If you were to treat an adult the way we treat children, you’d be called a chauvinist, abusive, controlling psychopath. <br><br>“Yeah, man, you’re a fucking adult now, no one tells you what to do” <br><br>Because when you were a kid, it was totally fine to tell you what to do. It’s totally okay to tell a kid they’re grounded and can’t do anything else but sit in their room all day doing hard labour, with no return in compensation or personal satisfaction. Yeah, that’s totally okay. And when they ask why they have to do it: “Because I said so. And if you don’t do what I say I’ll take away your phone/liberties/whatever”. <br><br>Sucks, doesn’t it? Welcome to everyones’ childhood. Now, try having that job for 18 years straight, and be told you will be punished and have your liberties taken away just because some authoritarian figure told you to do something you didn’t want to do. But hey, it’s all worth it because now you’re an adult! Now you can do whatever you want! Because you surely weren’t doing anything like that before you turned 18 anyway. Because God forbid you were smoking weed at 16, you little thug. You’re not an adult so you’re too stupid to make decisions anyway. <br><br>I swear to god, if you ever say this to a kid again, I will come over to your house and do whatever the fuck I want and completely disrespect you because I am an adult and you told me I can do whatever I want. How does that feel? You’re an adult, you get to make your own decisions, and nobody can tell you what to do. <br><br>This is the most fucked up thing I have ever heard and whoever said this should be ashamed of themselves.
