For the past 3 years, the wedding industry has grown exponentially and became a core economy in many countries. I want to highlight the staggering amount of money needed to throw a wedding nowadays in my country (Albania).

You will need at least 50000$ for a mid range wedding. I don't even know how you would invite your own mother to that wedding. Can you imagine her going around town to invite people in their 40s and 50s to your wedding while having to pay multiple people to do this ?

Just to put this in perspective 50000$ is the average that you would pay for a new 2 bedrooms house in Tirana, Albania in a decent neighborhood.

Yes, you can have a smaller wedding with less people and less unnecessary ideas from Pinterest but this isn't the case anymore. With the advent of social media, people are forcing to have more expensive weddings to show off their pride and joy

It has also become common place for couples to burn a shit load of money on photoshoots overseas. You can easily throw 10000$ for a good 3 days photoshoot in Paris or Rome.

I even had the audacity to ask what would happen to the photos after 10 years. I was met with looks of pure disgust as if I was proposing to kill her parents.

I want to add that the average salary in Tirana is 350$ per month. I know that the US has a bigger market overall but this is just plain stupid. Many have to go to their parents just to afford a wedding and a car (124% tax on cars in Albania)
