My son came out to me

My 14 (almost 15) year old son came out to me today. I was not surprised. I kinda figured it out a while ago. He left a note on my bed telling me he is gay. He was afraid to say it to me in person so a note was his way of communication. I put the note in his lunchbox. He found it when he was at school. I wrote, “I’ve known you are gay for a while now. I still love and accept you no matter what.” I got home and he was sitting on the bed. He told me he saw my note. He started crying and we hugged. He told me he was afraid to tell me. I told him I will always be there for him no matter what. I love you more than anything and have been the best dad I can. I told him we will be ok. He told me he was glad he told me. He told me all of his drama with a boy he liked. He’s still crying. I sit here with him and I just listen. I told him he can tell me anything. I will always be here for him. I am so proud of him for coming out to me. I want to protect him from the world.
