Crazy polyglots are annoying and hold back the discussion and progress of language learning

Let me explain.

I am not trying to attack people like Tim Doner who I like and respect. I can't stand how every time polyglots come up they hold up the standard of the genius hyperpolyglot who speaks 20 different languages but only know how to speak a couple of them at native level. Why the fuck should I care that you can say some basic phrases in 100 different languages? It is not impressive, it's stupid. But every time someone asks the question "what's the best way to work on my accent" the discussion devolves into "but have you heard of SHADOWING???????" "Practice with italki" "buy amazing polyglot course", etc, etc. I don't give a fuck about your accent, I don't want to pay for your accent classes, I don't care about your shitty accent shadowing channel. For someone who does not have an accent naturally, getting to that accent level requires years of training and investment. Navigating the information space for language learners is impossible because of all these polyglot parasites. I don't want to know about your accent, I want to know about your fluency, and your vocabulary, and how to make your speech more natural and fluid. But none of these topics can be discussed in the language community because you're a jack of all trades, master of none.

The other problem I have is that it creates this expectation where every person who wants to learn a new language should be able to learn multiple ones because it's "so easy" and "fun" or in the words of Tim Doner, "it's kinda like learning how to play chess. Sure, there's a bunch of things you have to learn in the beginning and at first it seems kinda hard. But then, after a while, you get used to it. And then eventually you forget what it's like to not know how to do something so simple." What, no. It is NOT simple. If it were, then most of the world would be fluent in at least two languages, we wouldn't have google translate, and I wouldn't be here typing this bullshit right now.
