What's the best way to approach a scene like this?

I've written a series of novels with a lot of characters, lots of world building too. One of the biggest scenes is a climactic battle, and I'm having trouble working out how to approach it. It's going to be a very big battle, with lots of characters who have developed over a large amount of text, so I want to do it justice. I would like to have every character... or at least, the ones that are taking part in the battle, to have some representation in the battle.

I've written plenty of battles before, 1v1, 1vs a small group, etc. But a large scale battle is just so hard to work out. My first two attempts have been absolutely terrible, and I'm very much stuck. Do you have any tips on how to approach writing a battle of this scale? I know exactly how the battle will go, every detail is thought out from a meta perspective. But writing it has proven to be hard. Should I have a single POV for the whole battle, or jump around between characters? If jumping around, how often, and how much of a jump.

EDIT: Thanks for the input everyone. Some good points have been raised. I think I've figured out my biggest problem, which is that I really just want to include too many details. I know that the thing to do is have the large scale, but it seems wrong to leave out some details. There are a few things like that, where I know I should put less focus on them than I am inclined to do so. I think that's the biggest issue I have to overcome. I think I'll have to do a few more drafts before I start getting it right... maybe a lot more drafts.

Your comments have given me a lot to think about though, and I'll keep them in mind going forward.

Also, thanks for the recommendations. I'll definitely give those a read, maybe I can learn something from them.
