I’m not really sure I’m the asshole here, but I can’t help but feel like I’ve done something wrong. I’m 40f and my friend is 36f. We’ve been friends for about 2 years. She is very pregnant and expecting in about a month.

I own a small cabin on a lake, and I generally spend my weekends there alone. She had suggested she come with, and I said no because I don’t feel like entertaining, and it’s a long drive so it wouldn’t be worth it just to sit around if she got bored. She pushed back and said she wouldn’t be bored, and that it would be good for me to have another person there. Because of her pregnancy, I let her come, only because I didn’t want to be an asshole.

She stayed the night last night and we hung out, went for a little walk around the lake and watched a movie. I went to bed around 10 and she was on the couch in the living room.

This morning I woke up and made myself some breakfast, and she was still sleeping. I had to go for a run around the lake to get some steps in. I figured she would probably still be sleeping when I returned, so I locked the house and left my key and a note to tell her I was back in 30 minutes. I returned about 40 minutes later and she was standing in the kitchen with a cup of coffee. She had no idea where my key was kept or how to get in, but she told me to tell her for next time in case I wasn’t around.

I told her she wouldn’t be around next time, that I was doing her a favor by letting her come this time and she got upset and said that I was being an asshole.

AITA?
