CMV: Schools should be required to prioritize teaching practical adult skills and life skills over preparing the most students possible for college

In my opinion schools spend way too much time preparing students to attend college, and not enough time making sure students know the skills that are actually required to succeed in life. This would include things like cooking, sewing, how to change oil in a car, how to do your taxes, how to do basic home maintenance, and other things that you will actually have to do on a day to day basis. I would much rather schools require students to take classes like these than classes like algebra or calculus or a second foreign language. I would even be ok with students not having to take a second history class past the required world history class most highschools require if it means students can take classes that may actually help them later in life. A student knowing how to do their taxes and how to change oil in a car is much more important to me than a student knowing the date of the battle of hastings, or the quadratic equation, or the conjugation of the German word for I.

This is my opinion, can anyone change my view?
