Men who grew up with no positive male figures in their lives, how were you taught to be a man?

My dad left when I was 2 and my mom worked and barely had time for me. I never had male figures in my life like uncle or grandpa, because they died before I was born.

I'm 20 now and looking back on my childhood, it was weird because I had no idea how to be a man or what men do. I was raised by my mom and my sister as I had no other family. I'm grateful to have an amazing mother who took care of me with little help, but being a woman, she can't teach a guy how to be a man. And at school, we were all just kids raging our hormones, nobody really knew what masculinity is.

I have a good life and work hard, but I'm just curious how other guys in similar situations learned to be a man
