I want to show a gun in my senior capstone presentation in May

When midterms are over, I want to show a gun and talk a little bit about the history surrounding it. I have two guns that I’m thinking of using for my presentation; I have a Colt 1851 Navy that was made in 1861 and a Colt 1860 Army that was made in 1863. I know that my school has a no guns policy so I need to get permission to bring one of my guns on campus for the presentation. I’ve never actually shown someone a gun before, so I don’t know how to do it properly. I’d like to bring the guns to my school in sealed and locked containers/pouches in my backback. I wanted to know how long it normally takes to get permission to bring a gun on campus so I know when to ask my school for permission. I’d like to get permission at the end of the month (Feb 28th) so I have plenty of time to get permission. I’m not sure if I’m allowed to bring a gun on campus with a red flag, but the red flag would be gone by the time of my presentation. I wanted to know how I should go about talking to my school about bringing my gun on campus. Should I talk to someone at the school in person or email them? I’d prefer to have someone with me in case I need to show the gun; I’ve been thinking about asking a friend of mine to come with me. I’ve talked to a couple of people at my school about my project and they seemed all right with it. I want to make sure that I follow all school policy so I don’t get in trouble. I also want to make sure I’m safe and that I can show the gun in a safe manner. I’m thinking about getting a tab or something so I can put the gun on a table so everyone in the class can see it clearly. I’ve been thinking about how I should show the gun, and I was thinking about passing it around (maybe without the cylinder?) and letting everyone hold it. I don’t know if that’s a good idea or not. I’m thinking that maybe I should just show the gun on the table and talk about the history and model of the gun, then I could let people ask questions about the gun.
