Something snapped inside me and I knew I had to be careful.

Last night I went out to eat at a pretty nice restaurant with a small group of friends to celebrate the end of finals. I had been drinking since like 2PM (about 4 hours before we went out) and the night ended up with me blacking out and my friends taking care of me. However, I had a very brief moment of clarity on the way to the restaurant and here's what happened:

I was already more than a little drunk when we first walked in, and at first thought, the restaurant and staff had a pretty nice atmosphere. The decor was nice, the music was chill, and the servers were attentive but not too much so. After we were seated, I got up to find the restroom, and that was when I saw him. A man who was probably in his early 30s who was sitting at the bar, drinking a beer, and looking me dead in the eye.

When he noticed my gaze, he gave me a very creepy and *slightly* toothy smile and kept looking at me. He even kept eye contact as he took a sip of his beer. It sent shivers down my spine. I moved as quickly as I could to the restroom, and when I opened the door to come back out, he had gotten up from his seat and was leaning against the bar, directly in front of me, looking at me again with that creepy smile. He was between me and the table, where my friends were, and my heart began to pound and my palms started to sweat in panic.

However, something strange happened. I don't know what it was, whether it was the way he smiled at me or something else, but it honestly just sent chills down my spine. I felt afraid and my survival instincts just kicked in. I paced more quickly towards the table, and when he said "Hi there..." I kept walking. I grabbed my glass of water from the table, told my friends I had to go to the car to throw up, and got up and left. I was so terrified, and I have no idea what would have happened if he got his hands on me if I would have stayed. I didn't end up throwing up, and I stayed in the car drinking my water until my friends came to see what was up with me.

When we were leaving the restaurant, I asked them if they saw the man at the bar, and all of them were like "Yeeeeah, he was weird, but not that big of a deal." I don't know if it was just my gut, my intuition, or my drink-addled brain, but something about him was very off, and I'm just glad I listened to myself and got out of there. I don't know what his intentions were, but I hope they weren't as bad as I thought they were going to be.

Creepy dude at the bar, let's not meet again.
