People who say they want kids so they have someone to look after them in old age show no basic understanding of how the world works

I’m 30. And in the UK. <br><br>If I live to be 90 (which is possible) then I just need to work for another 30 years. That will take me to 60. At the age of 60 I can claim a state pension and private pensions and live off my own money until my death at 90. <br><br>I would need my kids to look after me for 30 years. People who have kids at 30 will not be 60 until their kids are in their 30s. So the kids could be looking after their elderly parents for 50+ years if the parents live into their 90s. <br><br>Kids cost a lot of money. A kid will cost you £250,000 before the age of 18. For that money I can pay for my own care. <br><br>Why would I want to bring a new human into the world, spend all my money on them and potentially ruin their lives so I have someone to wipe my arse when I’m old? The amount of people who say this makes me crazy.
