AITA because I didn’t understand how to talk to kids?

I 24M, recently became a godfather to my cousins kid. It was a weird Sunday and my girlfriend and cousin wanted to play a game where we pretend to be drag queens. My girlfriend got the make up and stuff, so we all got dressed up and took pictures and played around.

The pictures got posted and we all got tagged, but nothing big, it is 2023. Anyway, my cousin’s kid had to stay with us overnight because of a work thing and he (8) saw the pictures. He had a lot of questions and while we were drinking we didn’t think it was a good idea to talk to a kid while drunk. He went to school and he must have talked about it there. On Monday morning my cousin and his wife blew up my phone. They were pissed their son knew and that I, quote on quote “groomed him”. I was like what the fuck, he saw the pictures and we talked about them. They said we were too adult and that it wasn’t OK to talk to a kid like that. I was like I’m sorry but I don’t know how to talk to 8 year olds. I just talk like I talk. They said that’s not an excuse and that I should find a way.

EDIT:
To everyone who says “oh 8 year olds aren’t able to handle drag queens” or “you shouldn’t be talking to 8 year olds like that” what are you talking about? Drag queens and kids can coexist. The kid wasn’t traumatized and knew what it was and how to handle it. It was just face paint and funny clothes. It wasn’t sexual. The whole idea behind drag is to blend what’s considered masculine and feminine and have fun with presentation. It’s not sexual.
