My sleep paralysis demon is kind of cool I guess.

I’ve always been pretty interested in the whole sleep paralysis thing, it creeps me out just a little bit, but it is also kind of interesting. I was pretty disappointed when after weeks of trying, nothing had happened to me. That was until one night when I woke up and saw it.

His name is Gary. He was a tall thin man with black clothes, a black skull mask, and white gloves. The strange thing about Gary is that he was wearing an ear bud in each ear, and they were connected to cords that went down into his clothes, and I’m assuming into ear bud shaped pockets. And he had ear bud shaped bulges coming out of his skull covered with little indiviual stitches around the edges.

Gary’s first words to me were “I’m not here to hurt you, but you do have to listen to me.” Then he played some music for me. It didn’t sound anything like anything I had heard before. It sounded like a bad copy of a bad dubstep song with all of the bass taken out.
But it was nice, and Gary was a nice guy. He would just stand there and play me music and talk to me for hours. He was kind of funny. He had an I Know a Secret joke for me, so I had to bleed my secrets. He had another one: Why couldn’t the bicycle stand up by itself? Because it was two-tired. He would make a lot of dad jokes, and they got annoying, but I couldn’t help but laugh.

But all of the times I saw Gary, he would play me his music. So, I began to fall asleep to it. I downloaded the dubstep song that it sounded like and played it on my phone on a low volume while I slept. And Gary started coming more and more. I started looking forward to it. He was a nice guy, and I wanted to know more about him. He didn’t have very much to say, but he seemed so calm and so collected. I wanted to be just like him. So I started training.

Gary told me that you have to let him in for him to leave. I started doing it.

Little did I know, Gary wasn’t a demon. He was an angel.

The first time I let him in was the first time I discovered my powers. Gary was playing his music for me and I looked at him and said “Gary, do you ever look at someone and say ‘I really wish I could understand what’s going on inside that guy’s head?’” And he said “Yes, all the time.” So I touched him on the head and suddenly I could hear his music. It sounded better, more bassy. But it didn’t sound like dubstep.

“Gary,” I said “What is this, it’s so nice.”

“This is my mind.” He replied

“How did you do it?” I asked “Can I do it too?”

“Yes,” he said “watch.” And he touched his head to mine and I could hear his music in my mind. And as I listened, I felt myself being lifted out of my body and placed inside Gary’s head. It was strange, but it felt nice. It was like a warm bath.

“Gary, do you ever look at someone and say ‘I really wish I could understand what’s going on inside that guy’s head?’” He said, using my exact words “Because I do it all the time.” And I laughed.

“You know,” I said “I think I’m going to start calling you ‘Gary Sound’”

Gary laughed. He was a very nice guy, and I’m glad we’re friends.

And that’s my story. I have Gary Sound in my head, and I hope he stays there forever.
