What is the point of money when you’re dead?

I’ve never worked a single day in my life (I’m 15) and my grandparents have saved over $500,000 for me to use in the future.

However, I don’t really see the point in all of this money, other than to live comfortably and have means to set up a good life. But my grandparents won’t be around to see the day I graduate from college or get married, or other events in life that they could share with their grandchild. They’re both in their 70s, and they could spend that money easily traveling to see me in the US and also travel all around Europe and Asia. They still work, and I don’t really understand the point of it.

The money they save I don’t think they would use before they die, and I’m very thankful that they put a lot of stock into my future, but I just don’t get why they don’t spend on the present. When I asked them about it they shook their heads and said that they still work because it’s important they keep busy.

What are your thoughts on this?
