I'm an ordinary system analyst who works at a huge company. I have never in my life put 2 & 2 together and really think about how my job is affecting the planet. I'm not a panlexic, I'm just an average person who didn't really think about it.

According to this, if I just saved my entire salary, I would need to save over 250k a year for over 100 years just to offset my carbon emissions.

Now I'm not saying I'm gonna quit my job to offset my carbon emissions but I still want to find a way to contribute to offsetting it or doing something about it because I don't want to be the reason why polar bears/walruses have to die due to my actions.

I know I can put in some effort to live a sustainable life but there's just no way I can do enough to offset that amount of carbon emissions. Even if I carpool and cancel meat, I'm still in the red.

TL;DR: My job is a huge carbon polluter and I can't do anything about it.

Edit: Some people have asked me for the source. Unfortunately it's in Japanese and I don't think I am allowed to translate it because of copyright reasons.

Edit2: I do not live in Japan and it's just that the website is in Japanese. I translated in the comments what the questions meant.

Edit3: Some people are saying that I'm lazy and I should start a carbon offset business and make millions from it. I did mention in the comments that the profit margins are less than 1% and it's much more cost effective to just do something on your own instead of relying on someone else to do it for you.

Edit4: For those who said I should use public transportation. Unfortunately I already do as much as I can to reduce my personal carbon emissions. My commute is already partially by bike. There is just no realistic way for me to realistically reduce my emissions by much anymore.
