Many people like to pretend that Instagram didn't kill Tumblr.

I've heard many people pretend that the death of Tumblr was because of the porn ban or people just growing up or becoming interested in other things. It was also a combination of the Evan Williams era and lack of commenting and discourse. But I was around, and I remember it was also around the time where people were jumping ship to Instagram. I remember people would just post pictures of their faces, or their feet, or anything stupid and that was like half of Tumblr posts for a while. And I don't think it's a coincidence that it was around that time that posting started becoming less frequent, and people started becoming more inactive. It was hard to get involved with someone on Tumblr because it was getting harder to find them. I'm not saying it was the sole reason but it definitely was one of the biggest factors into why people left and why the place is a barren wasteland now.
