My grandma was talking to a Bengali woman who lives in my native place who moved to our native in hope of a better life.

Little did my grandma knew that the Bengali woman who lives in our home's neighbourhood is actually a Bangladeshi and was talking all the problems of Bangladesh . My grandma asked her " why are you telling me these things ?" Bengali woman said "I know that you are Indian but I'm helpless" my grandma said what is meant by helpless ? Bengali woman said "your people don't talk to us, your people see us as intruders, your people call us thieves, if they catch us, they beat us and make us do labour work" My grandma had no clue what to answer .

Bengali woman said that she has no place to live in Bangladesh, she said her home was destroyed by cyclone Ampham and she had family of 10 siblings to feed which included 4 more siblings who are younger than her and 8 nieces and daughters who are her responsibility. She said that she has never seen number on the price of rice. She said that the price of a single bag of rice is greater than your entire monthly salary. She had to sell her kidneys to feed her kids. She said she she does anything wrong in Bangladesh and if she is caught, she will be lynched by a mob and she said that she has no trust in law. She said that law is blind and law is such a thing , that if a woman is lynched by mob, law will punish the conspirators but will let the law go free.

She said she doesn't know where and how she and her kids will live, she said that she has no hope. She said that she comes to India, because India is rich country, people in India eat food in restaurants and they let it go to waste, such people don't even know what hunger is. She said that she collects food from restaurants and gives it to her kids. She said that if she gets caught by police, they will either beat her or make her do labour work and if she is lucky, they might throw her back to Bangladesh after a few days. She said that she is not shame in begging in India, because here at least she is able to feed her kids, because here everyone is rich and they give her food and she sleeps in a temple for a night and when no one is watching, she goes and begs and sells them stuff and she said that she does this on daily basis.

She said that people in India see them with suspicion, people in India see them as intruders, people in India call them thieves, people in India look at them as if they have done a crime and she said she has done nothing. She said that she just wants to feed her kids. She said that she is not looking for a lavish life, she just wants her kids to be fed and she said that , she is not able to do that in Bangladesh. She said that she has been living in India for 4 months now. She said that she is scared most of the time. She said that she always expects someone to catch her .

She said that she doesn't know when she can go back to Bangladesh. She said that she is scared if she will be able to live there or not. She said that she is living in dark and she has no hope left. She said that she doesn't expect humans to show them humanity but she expects humans to show her empathy as if she is one of them. I was listening to this and I was clinically dead. I just felt bad for her. Why does it have to be like this ? Why does it have to be so difficult. It's a long story but I just wanted to share it with you guys .
