So I've lived in italy since I was 6, and have shunned my American side of my family since. I love italy, and since I was a child I grew to hate America.

I love this place so much, I wake up every morning excited to be here and live here. Every year I go to uni I feel more proud to be Italian. I love the culture, the people, the food. I speak Italian, and since I was 10 I've basically shunned English except for when I have to use it for school.

But I've seen recently the trend of Americans fetishizing italy and southern europe. I've seen people say **"Oh yeah, I'm going to move to europe cause of the election"**. Or **"Yeah, I love the cultures and food of southern europe"**. And then they list some basic shit about why they want to move, like **"Oh yeah the food is so good, the culture is so strong, why wont they ever assimilate, I love it"** Or other shit like that.

I've seen recipes from americans online and in cookbooks of just... fucking disgusting and inauthentic shit. And the first thing they put in the post is **"I lived in italy for a few years, so i decided to make this recipe that I learned"** No, you didn't. If you actually lived here you would know that we don't do this. We have families that have been living here for hundreds of years, sometimes thousands. You couldn't possibly know our culture, and I don't want you here.

I don't want waves and waves of americans to come to italy, greece, spain, portugal. These are our countries, and we can't protect them from brainless people from a dead nation who think they somehow have a right to be here. You don't know our history, you don't know our culture, you don't know anything about us. Why the fuck should you be allowed to live here?

These are our countries, and we love them. I love italy. I can't imagine living anywhere else, and I feel so bad for anyone who has to live elsewhere. But you cannot just come here because you think it's a nice culture, it's our nation. I know this sounds like something from a bad movie about immigration, but we don't want you here.

If you were actually Italian, or Greek, or Spanish, or Portuguese, then sure, I don't care. Get a green card and come here, assimilate with our culture, make friends, learn our history. But you can never be Italian, I can never be American. These are our nations, and I don't want you here.

So please, just leave. I don't want you here. I'm sure you'll fit in with the rest of your brainless countrymen, who have ruined the greatest empire anyone has ever seen. And because of you people, I have to deal with shitty stereotypes when I go to the US. No, we don't all hate americans, not really. But i hate the people who fetishize our countries and cultures, and ruin them with their bullshit recipes, and their stupid novel ideas about how we live. I hate them.

Edit: Do I ever think that americans should be allowed here? Yes. But i feel like the people who actually wanna move here are the ones who do their research, and know how to speak the language, and know our culture. Not the drop out who decided **"Hey, why don't i move to italy"**. If you know our country, speak our language, and want to **really** live here, then sure, come on it. But not you fucking idiots who think we all speak english.
