Hey everyone, hope you are all doing well. I'm going to be getting married in December, and I have been fighting with my fiance (aka soon-to-be spouse) about how much to spend on a wedding dress.

I am content to go for a 300-dollar dress from David's Bridal; however, my fiance says that it's too tacky and that I need to spend more on the dress. I don't know how much to spend and I wanted to know your thoughts on it. I am willing to go up to 800 but I'm not sure if that's too much or too little. I don't want my dress to be tacky, and I also don't want to break the bank for it. So, how much do you think I should spend on a wedding dress?

Edit: My fiance is a woman, and I'm non-binary. Please don't assume that my fiance is a man. Also, I don't think my fiance should get to pick out my dress; I do think that she should have a say in it though.

Edit 2: I don't care what dress my fiance wears, and vice versa; however, I do care about my dress, so that's why I'm being picky. I think that I should be able to pick out my own dress, but I also want to make sure that I look nice for her sake.

Edit 3: I'm not going to the wedding bare naked. I want to make a good impression, but I also want to make sure my dress is what I want it to be. I know that I'm going to be wearing it for the rest of my life, so I want to make sure I like it. However, I don't want to spend too much money on it, because I feel like that's just extravagant. That's why I'm here. I want to make sure I don't go overboard.

Edit 4: I understand why a wedding dress should be expensive. However, in my mind, that's too much. I do not think it's frugal to spend 1,200 dollars on a dress. I think that you should save your money instead of spending it on something that you're only going to wear once. That's why I'm here. So, if you could please give me advice on that, I would greatly appreciate it.
