How would you live as a minimalist in an expensive city?

I am struggling so much with the cost of living in the city I am in.<br><br>I live in Melbourne, Australia, and it is ridiculously expensive here. I have a good job, but it is extremely hard to make ends meet.<br><br>I feel like despite my best efforts, I am just barely scraping by, and I feel so trapped in that.<br><br>I admire people who can live in cities and be minimalist, I don’t know how they do it.<br><br>Any advice would be so much appreciated.<br><br>I have basically no savings, I have just enough money each month to cover my expenses (I am renting a small apartment) and maybe $50 left over.
