First year software engineer with no friends

So I landed my first job as a software engineer, in a software i didn’t study. The company is great, people are too, I even have 3 days of remote work each week, good pay and 20% pto. On the job it self I don’t really have any complaints (even if it’s a lot of work, it’s well defined), I was expecting something more boring, but my team is very collaborative and friendly (we do have a hard time describing stuff to our product engineers since our stack is not mainstream and a bit hard to understand).

So, everything is great on the work side.

But I’m feeling a bit down since I had not an ounce of contact with my coworkers outside of work (texting, phone calls, lunch, etc). I honestly don’t even know what they like or what they do after work. I tried to make them drink a beer after work, but they didn’t. I asked if they wanted to grab lunch, they said yes, but it never materialized. I have lots of acquaintances, but everyone is super busy at work and after, and I even had 2 birth announcements from coworkers I’ve never met.

Outside of work I don’t really have friends. I was busy studying, and I never had time to build a life out of work. I’m not even sure how to build a life outside of work.

So, what do I do to reach my coworkers? How do I even make friends outside of work?

How do you make friends?

How do you keep in touch with coworkers outside of work?

Any tips would be appreciated, I’m getting really anxious about this.

Tl;dr; I have no friends, need help making them.
