Teacher to Teacher: What should I get for my first classroom?

I’ve finally landed my first classroom. I’m a special education teacher and I’m not sure where to start. I was given 1000.00 to decorate and a list of classroom supplies to make sure I have for the upcoming year. <br><br>What did you wish you had on your first year of teaching? What do you wish you spent more money on? What’s something I should avoid buying? <br><br>This is my first classroom I don’t know what to expect. My mentor seems nice but she doesn’t talk much so I’m trying to reach out to people in this Reddit. I’ve read a few articles but I’m still very lost. Any advice will help. <br><br>Thank you.
