My daughter is going to have 208,000 in student loans. She finished a degree in social work and hasn't been able to get a job. We paid for the first two years of college, but she had to take out loans for the second two years.

I'm afraid she won't be able to get a job in that field paying more than $40,000 or $50,000 per year. She's also struggling to get a job in her field... a few interviews but nothing yet. I also worry she won't be able to pay back the loans and it will make her credit terrible.

I'm considering paying them off for her. I have the money to do so, but part of me wonders if it's a poor decision. Maybe she needs to learn a hard lesson. I'm not sure...

Any thoughts or experiences?
