You can be a good and truly kind person and still be lonely. Loneliness is not something you can get rid of by being a better person. I wish it were that simple.

EDIT: I posted this because I myself had fallen in love with the idea that if I'm a more complete and compassionate person, I should be able to escape loneliness. This is not an easy subject for me, and I felt I had failed and that I wasn't good enough. Maybe some people out there are experiencing the same thing.
