Subreddit continues to be a shithole

The political posts have gotten worse and your average post is just a dumb meme. A lot of the recent comments on these posts are just comments like “most people hate these posts ??‍♂️”. I love a good meme as much as the next person but this isn’t r/Memes.<br><br>We used to just have fun posts asking questions and getting a lot of good answers. Do you remember when we had that image of the thief saying “It’s all good, I’ll just steal your car” and the caption was “When someone says ‘It’s all good’ but it isn’t all good and that’s why they’re saying it’s all good”? What happened to that ELI5?<br><br>Going to a 5-year olds school and asking their kids questions about science and history and other topics is very fun. But when you have your friend over for pizza night and they start talking politics and everyone groans, that’s what this sub has become. Our friend with a basic white girl haircut starts talking about how the other friend is a racist and that’s why they dislike pineapple pizza. THATS WHAT THIS SUB HAS BECOME.<br><br>Politics stuff is fun to talk about with your friends but when you go to the grocery store, do you really want to discuss politics with strangers? No! You want to ask them if they liked the cake they baked for their dog’s birthday party because you saw the picture of their dog eating the cake on Facebook, and you want to ask them if they’d be willing to bake a cake for your dog because you want your dog to have a birthday party too. You want to tell them about your dog learning a new trick, or how your dog ran away for a day and shit on the neighbor’s lawn. Because that’s what friends do. That’s what this sub used to be. And sure, that cake post with the dog shitting on the neighbor’s lawn might become a very controversial post because your friend with the basic haircut has a dog that doesn’t shit on people’s lawns and this is personal for them and they’re going to go on a tirade about how shitty some people are. And you feel bad for your friend with the basic haircut because you know they’re a good person, but you also feel bad that now everyone isn’t having as much fun anymore. Because now your friend with the basic haircut is calling your dog a racist and that’s why you have a dog, because you’re a racist like your dog.<br><br>A lot of the popular posts here get lots of comments but they’re the same comments saying “these posts are bad”. I remember when my mom would say “If you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all” and I get that a lot of you think the political posts are bad so you’re going to comment saying that. The thing is, though, if you’re the friend with the basic white girl haircut, you’re going to feel like you’re right and everyone else is wrong and you’re just trying to help your other friend, which is Reddit. But Chambers doesn’t need your help! Chambers is just fine! Everyone is just eating their pizza and watching the movie and having a good time.<br><br>The dog shitting on the neighbor’s lawn comments have a lot more upvotes because that’s a very controversial topic and it’s personal for a lot of people. But just because your comment gets a lot of upvotes doesn’t mean it’s the best comment. Some of the funniest comments I see are the “first?” comments or the “player really did something wrong” comments, and those usually don’t get many upvotes. And that’s okay. We’re all friends here! If you want to make a post about politics go ahead and make the post. And if you want to comment on it, go ahead and comment! And that’s it! There doesn’t need to be any more! If you see a post and you don’t like it, you can just scroll down and see the next post. There’s a lot of content here! If you don’t like politics, don’t read those! If you want to tell us about how your dog learned a new trick, do it! Because we want to hear about your dog! Everyone here wants to be friends with you!
