Hi guys! Its been a while since I posted and I decided to come back with a bang. Today, I am going to try and convince you that celebrities like Taylor Swift and Katy Perry are just as responsible for ruining the US as Trump. Before I begin, I would like to clarify that by "ruin the US" I mean cause massive divides and polarization in our society. I would also like to state that I am not trying to defend Trump, I am simply criticizing his opposition; Trump is a grown man and can defend himself. Now, on to the show.

Trump has been consistently branded as a divider by the media, but I believe his opposition are just as guilty of this crime, if not more so. Donald Trump doesn't tell anyone not to watch his shows, follow his Twitter, buy his merchandise, etc. On the other hand, celebrities do. Celebrities like Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, and so many others have used their large platforms to shun and embarrass Trump supporters. This creates a ripple effect in which those who do follow or like these celebrities then go out and do the same. A 12 year old girl who had no political beliefs up until this point will now go out and try to embarrass Republicans or Conservatives just because her idol did. A parent who was indifferent will now do the same, not because they actually experienced anything, but because someone they like told them to.

On top of that, celebrities have constantly used their large platforms to create and reinforce a negative narrative surrounding Trump and his base. From calling them racist bigots to calling them Russian trolls, there is no shortage to the slander, smearing, and stretching of the truth that celebrities partake in. They paint such a negative narrative of the right that whenever anyone on the left interacts with someone on the right, there is immediate hostility. Why? Because they were told to believe that Trump and his supports are the embodiment of evil and they are dangerous and destructive human beings. In reality, that couldn't be further from the truth, but because someone with a huge platform said it, it must be true.

Now, I know what you guys are thinking. "But Trump...But Trump...But Trump..." I'm not here to defend or criticize Trump. I said that before and I'm saying it again. This is a criticism of Trump's opposition. The left and its celebrities have done nothing but create a toxic environment that breeds hostility and aggression. They want to create a world where Republicans and Conservatives are shamed into not speaking their minds and hiding who they are. The left constantly complains that Trump dividers them, but they do the same on a much larger scale. Statistically speaking, way more people see a tweet from Taylor Swift than from Trump, and her tweets normally get way more replies, likes, etc. Because of this, celebrities have way more influence than Trump does, which means they have way more power to divide.

This isn't a left or right issue, this is an influence issue. The fact that celebrities can reach millions of people and plant ideas and ideologies into their minds is just as, if not more, divisive as Trump. Back in the day, celebrities had no problem with putting their political beliefs aside and doing their job: entertaining. And that's exactly what they should do today. They don't need to try and influence and brainwash their unsuspecting audience and create a world where they are shamed and embarrassed for not being a leftist.

So, folks, there you have it: My CMV. If you disagree, explain why and give me your best argument, and I'll do the same. This is an open discussion, and I'm happy to hear your thoughts and opinions.

EDIT: First of all, I am not a Trump supporter or republican. I are a leftist.

Secondly, some of you are confusing seeing a tweet with the impact of the tweet. Sure, tons of people see Trumps tweets, but what do they take away from them? Not much. On the other hand, when someone who is a fan of a celebrity sees a political tweet from them, it holds way more weight. When someone who is a fan of a celebrity sees a political tweet from that celebrity, they are more likely to take it seriously and more likely to be influenced. Because of this, celebrities have way more influence over their followers than Trump does over his followers.

Thirdly, a ton of you are saying "Well, what about celebrities like Nugent, Ted, Springsteen, etc. who are conservative? They can influence their followers too". First of all, that list is about 1% of the celebrities who are vocal about politics. Secondly, none of those celebrities have the same level of influence as someone like Swift or Perry. I mean, lets be real here: When was the last time you saw a post from Ted Nugent on the front page? When was the last time you saw a post from Carrot Top on the front page? I dont know, but I can tell you the last time I saw a post from Taylor Swift on the front page: Yesterday. On top of that, none of those celebrities are as militant and preachy as Swift and Perry. I bet that 99% of you don't even know that Ted Nugent is conservative, while 99% of you know that Swift and Perry are liberal. This is because they don't constantly shove their political beliefs down peoples throats. On top of that, none of those celebrities have the same level of influence as someone like Lorde or Billie Eilish does on a young teen. The celebrities I mentioned are the most popular celebrities in the world, and there is no one who has the influence that they do. Because of this, I completely and utterly ignored the right, and I specifically talked about people like Swift and Perry. Please, educate yourself next time before you make silly comments that you know little about.
