Can a woman with a baby slot in a baby car seat in-between two people in a car or is it unsafe?

In other words, if two people are sitting in a car side by side, one towards the passenger side door and the other in the middle but towards the driver side window, can you have the baby seat in the middle b/w the two seats with the female holding the baby seat? <br><br>Is it unsafe and will it cause the baby to fly over to the other side of the car and hit the passenger seat? (happened to me once, no baby was injured but I’m not sure if that’s not the norm)
