Suddenly, he's gone.

I can't believe it's over. It went so quickly I didn't even get his name. I was on my back porch a few days ago, enjoying the last warm couple of days in Maine. I didn't know much about them, other than their hissing and the smell they left behind. <br><br>He was next to me, just enjoying the air as well. I did not know where he came from but he was a good listener. In the three days we spent together, he never said a word to me. We watched sunsets together and I shared my snacks with him. I grew to love him in such a short time. <br><br>Yesterday, I went out onto the porch and I didn't see him. I thought he had just moved somewhere else to enjoy the day but it wasn't until this morning that I really felt his absence. His smell is fading and his hissing sounds are getting weaker and weaker. I think I'm losing him, and I don't know what to do.<br><br>I never got his name.
