I just wanted to share my advice

I’m currently a junior in college and I’m doing very well for myself. I always try to give advice to my friends who are struggling, so I figured I’ll share some of it here.

First of all, don’t set your goals based on other peoples expectations. People will tell you to go to college, to get a job, to stay in school. This isn’t wrong, but it is outdated. I decided to drop out of college because I was miserable. I’ve never done better, and I don’t regret it. If you feel like a path isn’t right for you, trust yourself.

Second of all, do it yourself. If you want to get things done, learn to do them yourself. If you wait for other people to do things, you will always be disappointed. Do it yourself, I promise you will be much happier.

Third of all, you will fail. I went from being a straight A student to failing a bunch of classes. It sucked, I was so disappointed in myself, and I felt like I had let everyone down. It made me want to give up. But I didn’t, and I’m doing better than I was before. If you fail, own up to it. Understand where you went wrong, make a plan to fix it, and keep moving. You will fail everyone once in a while, but you don’t have to let it define you.

Fourth of all, who cares? Your grades aren’t the only thing that matters. Your mental health is more important than your grades. You are more important than your grades. You have to put your health and happiness first, because otherwise you will burn out. Take breaks, take what you need, and make sure you’re doing okay.

For a lot of people, it’s easy to let school define themselves. I focussed on this for so long, and it made me miserable. I’m so much happier now, and I hope you all are too.

Be kind to yourself,
launa :]

Edit: well, this blew up. I never expected this many responses. Thank you so much for all the love, friends. I hope you are all doing well too.
