What’s the best way to see Lake Tahoe?

It will be 100 degrees a week in Sacramento and I’m getting angsty. We’ve rented a houseboat in Lake Tahoe for 4 days, but I’m not sure what the best way is to see the lake on said houseboat. We’re definitely on a budget and want to see as much as possible, but I’m afraid to keep moving the boat as I’ve read in a few places that it’s a pain to keep moving the houseboats. 4 days is plenty of time, but I don’t know how the best way to structure our trip. Any advice or suggestions on the best places to see while staying on a budget would be great. TIA.
