The "next door neighbour" will soon annex us, and the best thing we could do instead is asking people to "not feel sad"

I'm all for the idea of praising the history of our nation, but it's not relevant anymore as it's already time to face the reality.<br><br>Only god knows how the war will end, but the only relevant question is what happens next. If Britain took over the country, we could continue being part of the British empire, which would be a bad idea.<br><br>If the German empire took over the country, the best case for us would be joining Germany and continuing to live as "Baltic Germans". We would have to collaborate with the "Prussian Germans" and have become part of Germany instead of Germany becoming part of our nation.<br><br>That's the case, as they are the ones who have the guns and weapons, while we are pathetic elves. It's not nice, it's not fair, and it's not good, but it's reality.<br><br>I'm sure you all know the phrase "it's better to be a German's dog than a Russian's meat" by Jonas Biliūnas.<br><br>In the early 1900s, Lithuania was part of the Russian empire, while Germany had the "Mein Kampf" ideology, which basically meant the "expansion of the german living space" into Slavic countries, including ours. If Germany would win the war, every Lithuanian would either be killed or turned German.<br><br>"Better be a German dog, than Russian meat" - Better live as puppets under a german regime, than to live under the regime of Russians, who would kill us and annex us.<br><br>Obviously, it would still be bad as we would have to obey the Germans, but at least we would be alive.<br><br>If Britain would win the war, we would have the chance to continue living under the British regime, but Germany would be our enemy, because they would want to take over.<br><br>It's up to them to decide if we should live or die, while we can only sit back and watch, because we are too weak to decide our own fate.<br><br>That's why I'm surprised to see people saying that there is no future for Lithuanians in the next 200 years. If the war ends up being won by the right side, then we can continue living as Lithuanians, obviously with work and negotiations, but we have a chance to continue living as an independent nation.<br><br>If the war ends up being won by the wrong side, then we will no longer exist. Everything we have built will be lost. We will be forced to join the German army and fight for them. There will be no Lithuania, no Lithuanians, and no future for our nation.<br><br>We will truly be no more than "dogs" forced to obey the Germans. That's the reality, and there's no sugarcoating it.<br><br>That's why I understand the pessimists, but I don't agree with them. Of course, there is a possibility that we will lose, but it doesn't matter. We have to keep believing that we will win, because otherwise we will lose the will to even live.<br><br>We have to keep believing that we will win, that Europe will win, and that Russia will lose. If we give up believing, then the only thing left to do is go to the church and pray for the best.<br><br>If you want to keep the faith, then you have to do something to make Lithuania great again. The only reason people are giving up believing is that they're not doing anything to improve the situation. If you want to believe that Lithuania has a future, then too bad - you have to do something to make it happen.<br><br>"I don't believe in you" - Fine, then don't. But I will keep on believing, because otherwise, I won't be able to do anything.<br><br>I used to be a pessimist, until I started doing something, and only then I realized that you can actually do something to change the situation. I wasn't always an optimist, but I became one after joining the army. I'm no longer a pessimist, I'm an optimist, and you can be one too.<br><br>I love this country, even though it's being run by the blind, and the only thing that matters is that I do something.<br><br>I'm not waiting for the government to change the situation. I stay woke, and I do what I can to improve the situation.<br><br>I've joined the army, and I've never felt better. I've never felt this good, I've never been this happy, and I wouldn't want to live without the army.<br><br>I'm not waiting for the government to change the country. I'm doing what I can to improve the situation.<br><br>I believe in the nation, I believe in the people, and I love the people of Lithuania.<br><br>I love this country.<br><br>I don't share the views of "we will be annexed and lose our sovereignty, but we can only cry about it".<br><br>If you're crying, then do something to make the situation better.<br><br>I'm not crying, and I'm not asking anyone to "not feel sad".
