My feelings about feminism: A poem from a very happily married husband

Every time I hear a man say, "women shouldn't be making less than us." <br><br>Every time I see a man stand up for a woman's right to choose. <br><br>Every time a man goes out of his way to make a woman feel safe. <br><br>I am proud to be a man, and I am so happy to be a feminist.<br><br>Every time a woman is treated like an accessory instead of a person, every time a man violates a woman. <br><br>I am ashamed, I am horrified. <br><br>I am so, so happy to be a feminist.<br><br>Every time a woman reports a crime and isn't believed. Every time a man forces a woman to do something she doesn't want to, every time a woman is treated like a thing instead of a person. <br><br>Every time a man treats a woman like she's lesser than him, I am horrified. <br><br>Every time a man makes a woman feel unsafe I am disgusted, I am so happy to be a feminist. <br><br>Every time people question what a feminist is, every time someone asks what the point of feminism is, think of me. <br><br>Think of your father, your brother, your son, your friend. <br><br>Think of every man you know who has stood up for you, who has stood up for someone you know. <br><br>Think of that and know. <br><br>We are not your enemies. <br><br>We do not hate you. <br><br>We are your friends, your confidants, your partners, your cheerleaders. <br><br>We are your allies, we are your friends, and we are your protectors. <br><br>We are your fathers, your brothers, your sons, your grandfathers. <br><br>We are your cousins, your uncles, your nephews, your friends. <br><br>We are the men in your lives, we are the men in our own lives. <br><br>We are the men of the world, and we are here for you. <br><br>Feminism isn't a war, it isn't a battle. <br><br>Feminism is humanism. <br><br>Feminism is the believe that women and men should be treated equally, that they should be treated like people. <br><br>Feminism is a movement, but it's also a mindset. <br><br>Feminism is normal, it's human, it's right. <br><br>Every time a man treats you like a person and not a thing, every time someone stands up for you, every time you are treated like an equal. <br><br>That is feminism. <br><br>So when someone asks you what feminism is, and you don't know what to say, just think of this. <br><br>Think of someone you know who would never let anything happen to you. <br><br>I am a feminist. <br><br>And I would never, ever let anything happen to you.
