I have only ever visited Maryland once, it was the beginning of spring of 2003, and my grandpa and grandma were amazing, they spent countless hours showing me and my cousins the sights, but as you can imagine a 14 year old boy will get bored after awhile of watching my grandma paint in her studio and my grandpas garden. So we went to the nearby town to grab a quick bite to eat. After lunch we went to a random craft store, she was fascinated, my other younger cousins were fascinated by Lego and stuffed animals, but she was so excited about the yarn, the beads, the fabrics, the scissors and all these other things her tiny eyes could not miss.

I went to the pet store next door just to see if they had any interesting fish or frogs for sale. When I got home, I was met with a small grey and brown kitten that my 4 year old cousin wanted to name Elon, I was taken aback but I am assuming it was my grandmas idea to name my cousins cat, and she was at the time a professor at a highly esteemed university so I did not want to correct her.

At that point in her life my cousin didn't know the world outside of her house and school. Anyway she had the cat for 11 years before she passed away.

The second she got the cat, she immediately started giving name suggestions to all of the animals in our house. She had cute names for my fish, the birds, and even the chickens we had. I like to think that the cat being named Elon. was the catalyst that started her pulling names out of thin air and applying them to the beauty of the natural world. Maybe I am just being poetic, but the cat was special, it was like it had its own personality, but I can't remember anything that made it stand out.

I like to think she is the least spoiled and most innocent person I ever met. She used to cry when a bird died, not because it was dead, but because she didn't know what to name it.
