Most movie remakes are an excuse to not learn about history.

The marching into the bear pit scene in Revenant was 100% inspired by a real historical event, but instead of learning about the historical event, the majority of people only know about what a bear did to Leo's anus.<br><br>Pretty much all of the Tarzan movies are loosely based off of the true story of Victor from Aveyron, France in the late 1700s, who was raised in the woods by wolves. The first English translations were from the diary of the man who took him in, and are very interesting insights into how a wolf-raised boy would interact with humans, and vice-versa. But that's not what anyone wants to know, because it's much easier to just watch Disney.
