Even when AI is perfect, I still don't want it

The disgruntled and incessant ravings of a disgruntled mind.

Before I start, I don't mean "perfect" as in completely and utterly perfect with no flaws, but more unto the point of "perfect" as in "perfectly delivering the ultimate promise of AI". I think it's safe to say that even if the ultimate promise of AI were to become true, with no flaws and no issues, it would still be disastrous. The idea of AI, the concept of creating a "smart" machine, is inherently flawed even when considering "perfect" AI.

So in this post I'm considering "perfect" AI to be like a magic spell, one that brings about a perfect and flawless AI in an instant, with no side effects or flaws or issues, and that such AI is like a genie that you can command to do your bidding and that such a device, with no flaws and no issues, would still be disastrous.

Even when AI is perfect, I still don't want it. It would still be terrible, still be flawed in its own unique way, and would still be a nightmare to deal with.

The idea of a machine, a thing, a device, a puppet, that you can command around, is naturally flawed. The very concept runs against our ethics and our morals, and goes against literally everything that we consider to be "right". If you command a machine you're not performing labor, you're not doing anything. You're not creating anything, you're not achieving anything. You're just bossing some machine around and doing nothing. Even if the machine never suffers, never feels pain, is never harmed, it's still inherently wrong. It's still inherently flawed.

Imagine a world where your physical needs are automatically met. Where you don't need to work, don't need to struggle, don't need to suffer. Imagine a world where your food, water, shelter, healthcare, and transport are automatically met. Imagine a world where you don't need to labor, struggle, and fight for the bare basics. There's no need to work, no need to struggle, no need to fight for survival. You don't need to starve, don't need to be homeless, don't need to be in pain. The most basic physical needs are automatically met.

That sounds like a good thing, a utopia. But it's not. Just imagine that life. That life is boring, empty, shallow, meaningless, and worthless. Imagine that the only thing that you do, the only thing that you achieve, the only thing that you accomplish, is bossing some machine around. Where you command them to do everything, and you do nothing at all. Where you have no purpose, no meaning, no goals. You're not doing anything. You're not achieving anything. You're just bossing some machine around. That's your entire life.

"Wow, THE FUTURE! Where I don't have to do anything and everything is done for me!"

It's not THE FUTURE. It's a nightmare.
