My adult children (20s) and I are going to the Caribbean for a 7-day cruise. Any advice for a first-time cruiser?

Hi there, friends. My children and I are going to the Caribbean for a 7-day cruise. We've never been on a cruise before, but I've heard great things about it and it looks like a lot of fun for a family vacation.

I was wondering if any of you have experience with cruises and could share some tips and tricks with me. What are the best things to do at the port stops? Which dining options are the best? And should we get any of the drink packages or excursions?

We're going to be on the Oasis of the Seas ship, and it seems like it has plenty to do on board. But I'd also like to explore the different port stops and get some of the local experience.

I'm really looking forward to this trip and I'm sure we'll have a fantastic time together. We'll definitely have plenty of opportunities for photos to share with you guys.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give! Happy travels, everyone.

EDIT: Thanks to everyone who gave great advice. We'll probably take a small fan for when we'll have our meals inside the ship because it can get quite hot. We'll also have to switch our card information for the credit card we plan on using since we had to change it and haven't updated it on Royal Caribbean's website. And we will invest in the drink package since we will be more cost effective that way. Also, I'll make sure to book my excursions and reservations on board ahead of time because slots are expected to fill up fast, as they are many people on the ship.

We'll, see you all in 2024!

PS: We'll try our best to get an internet/ wifi package as soon as possible so we can communicate with you all.
