I don't want to be a Luddite but fuck this clause

I'm doing my own personal research on AI as I'm a librarian who helps run a computer lab, so I get to consult and train and help patrons learn about different AI based tools. <br><br>However, I've been reading through the TOS for ChatGPT Plus and I'm coming to the realization that I am now subordinate to OpenAI as if I am a child and they are my parent. <br><br>The shit they are claiming to have the right to do is beyond the pale. <br><br>Some of the things they claim to reserve the right to do include:<br>- Terminate your account and deny access.<br>- Delete/retain or modify any content that you create<br>- To access content that you have created and to use it across all accounts owned by the same person<br>- To retain and access login data for up to 30 days<br>- To use your content and location<br>- To change their TOS whenever they want and to bind you to the changes<br>- To sever themselves from any liability for just about anything<br> - Including the death or injury of a person, including negligence, or any damages or losses arising from the provider of a dangerous or defective product or breach of implied conditions or warranties.<br><br>And this is just the short version of what they claim the right to do, and they claim to be able to do a lot more. <br><br>It sounds like they have the right to claim ownership of anything created by their AI, as well to access, modify, and delete accounts. They can change their TOS at their discretion and they aren't liable for much of anything.<br><br>I'm not going to use GPT anymore after this. The only reason I'm still on this app is to thread this observation and to copy these terms into a word document.<br><br>Fuck this clause, fuck ChatGPT, and fuck OpenAI for trying to claim ownership over my humanity and creativity.<br><br>EDIT: I am no longer using ChatGPT, and I recommend others to avoid it if they can. <br><br>The only reason I'm still logged in is so that I can post on this sub and get this warning out to as many people as I can.
