I (28M) just found out that my son (5M) isn’t biologically mine. My wife (27F) is trying to use our son to stop me from divorcing her. How should I proceed?

I’m not sure where else to go for advice. I’ll get straight to the point.<br><br>I (28M) discovered that my wife Cheyanne (27F) who I married 2 years ago but have been in a relationship with for 7 years cheated on me and that our son (who is the biological product of her affair) is not mine.<br><br>It was a terrible shock. I was in tears when I first found out and I still have difficulty holding it together when I think about it. It feels like my whole world has been turned upside down.<br><br>I’ve always wanted to be a dad. I absolutely love children and was over the moon when my wife first announced that she was pregnant. My son is everything I’ve always wanted and I’ve been the most involved dad I could be since the day he was born.<br><br>He’s a very sweet boy and I love him more than anything. The thought of not being a part of his life going forward is extremely painful to contemplate.<br><br>After I found out the truth, I told Cheyanne that I wanted a divorce but she is refusing to agree. She is begging me to stay with her and saying that even though she was unfaithful and our son isn’t mine she wants me to be a part of their lives and to still be married to her. She insists that she loves me and doesn’t want a divorce.<br><br>I’ve told her that I need some space and am currently staying with my brother. I am not changing my mind about divorcing her and am fixated on securing formal custody of my son. <br><br>She knows that I want full custody of our son and is telling me that she will happily allow me to keep him if I agree to stay married. That doesn’t want a divorce because she wants to ensure that I have a formal and permanent relationship with our son.<br><br>I don’t want to stay in this marriage. I want to divorce Cheyanne and I absolutely want sole custody of our son. I’m afraid that if I stay married and am a part of their lives, she will start to try to bring other men around which I don’t want. <br><br>How should I proceed? What steps should I take in regards to getting a divorce?<br><br>tl;dr: I just found out that my wife had an affair while pregnant and that our son isn’t mine.
