Effectiveness of cash assistance

Over the last few years I have been pondering the effectiveness of cash assistance for those in need. And if it’s a viable option for social welfare over other assistance like food stamps or housing. There has been several studies done on it w heightened interest. And their results seem to be vastly positive, increasing income and health. What are people’s opinions here on it?
