I have been a member of this chamber for a few years and I wrote this post to explain why I am leaving.

I am a black woman who recently graduated college and I have been a member of this chamber for a few years. Beyond the conspiracy theories and self-hating that is rampant on this chamber, it is mostly filled with racist white men who feel that anything that is not for their own benefit is a threat against them. I liked the idea of thinking about the way that the world works because I figured that those who control the world do not want their secrets to be known, but I am appalled by the manner in which it is discussed here. I am leaving the chamber because of the many posts that I see about my race, gender, and sexuality. I can't stand the fact that my blackness is a topic of discussion upon which it is okay to have an opinion and to speak about me and my people as if I am inferior to you. Even worse, when I (or someone who cares about me) try to express our perspective or to correct the blatant lies that have been said about us, we are met with even more hostility as if we are not allowed to speak about our own experiences. I am also tired of the posts about women and non-binary people as well as the posts about gay people and trans people. I can't stand the fact that my existence is a topic of discussion upon which it is okay to have an opinion, and to speak about my race, gender, sexuality, class, etc. as if each and every one of us who possess the trait that you despise are somehow inferior to you. I am also tired of the posts encouraging suicide. I am tired of the posts that laugh at medical conditions that we can't control. I am tired of the posts of people who are homeless or who are overweight or who have some other visible flaw. I am tired of the blatant racism and ableism and sexism and transphobia and homophobia that is prevalent on this subreddit. I am concerned about the effect that this has on young minds. Not to mention, I see a lot of intelligent and positive people who try to improve the discussion here and to each and every one of you- thank you! I hope that you all and myself are aware enough to see through the rampant negativity and to realize that we all live in the world together. I wish those who spread hate would stop.
