What should I do to help my student who’s dad is battling cancer?

I’m 3rd grade teacher. Pietro is one of my students, he’s had a tough year. His mom left and now his dad is battling cancer. I’m not sure what to do to help him. He’s a sweet kid and I’ve done my best to be affectionate and understanding but I’m not sure if that’s enough.<br><br>Any advice?
