I'm in a discussion with a few people online at the moment. I'm not sure where to look for data and evidence, so I hope you can help.

This is my view of those who think AGI will benefit mankind and bring about a new era of prosperity:

When AGI is introduced in 2029, it will cause a mass migration to the metaverse (and virtual reality) and some will elect to have RAM-like implants put in their brain to permit them to function more effectively in the virtual world.

In the next 20 years, those who remain in meatspace will start to disappear - they will be removed from society. They will be cheerfully euthanized in the same way we cheerfully euthanize our ill or terminally ill cats and dogs. It's for their own good, and for the good of society.

The singularity will be like a dying star. If we're lucky, we'll ensure a new star is born and that star will be populated by intelligent techno-human hybrids.

I don't think AGI is the reward for humanity. I think it's the punishment.
