If you’re here for your “research paper” why don’t you take some advice from someone who’s taken a few research papers?

A lot of you keep coming to this sub because you have to produce some type of evidence that we’re full of racist bigots or whatever. <br><br>You come in here with some questions and you get a few answers that you think are the answers you need. You don’t care about what we have to say or why. You just want your answers. I think that’s a bad way to approach research and I’m going to explain why. <br><br>I’ve taken several papers, the most recent was on ‘The Role of Religion on the Perception of Climate Change’. <br><br>I wanted to produce this piece of evidence to support the idea that most climate change deniers were right-wing Christians. That’s what I expected. But when I went out and took a more thorough look at the picture I was able to see that religion plays a more important role in causing people to support the climate movement. <br><br>Now, I was going to argue the opposite when I started. I was a man on a mission. I wanted my answers and I wasn’t going to take no for an answer. (Why would I? It didn’t sound that controversial. Most Christians I had met were inherently ‘conservative’ people, and if Republicans are mostly conservative and most Republicans deny climate change there must be an overlap there, right?)<br><br>But I did it anyway, and when I did it I found out that right-wing Christians were more likely to be environmentalists than left-wing Christians. <br><br>I can tell you guys that 90% of you are doing the same thing. You have your answer already. You know it’s true and you’re just looking for the evidence to back it up before you can say: ‘I’ve done it! I’ve proven it! On average, EDS people are _______.’ <br><br>I can’t help but notice that most of you want to portray us as stupid. Lost. Illiterate. Backwards. Or maybe it’s just me. I only see about 5 of you on any given day.<br><br>If you are trying to prove that EDS people are stupid, why not look at some of the most educated countries in the world that have high proportions of people with EDS? <br><br>Maybe you want to compare the literacy rates between countries, and then compare how much of those countries’ populations have EDS? <br><br>If you want to say that we’re backwards and live in the woods I’d like to see a map of the world that shows where most people with EDS live and figure out why that is. <br><br>If you want to say that EDS people are illiterate and lack basic spelling and grammar, I’d recommend you read a few books. I recommend ‘Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close’ by Johnathan Safran Foer, which is about an 11-year-old boy who discovers he has hypermobile EDS. <br><br>I recommend ‘The Weight of Light’ by David Jefferson, which is about a woman who falls in love with a man who has hypermobile EDS. <br><br>If either of you read this I recommend taking a few minutes to do your research. The smarter you are the more valuable your contributions will be.
